Spanakopita spinach pie

i got the recipe from here:

it was pretty easy, not as easy as picking it up at trader joes, but they don't have it anymore :(

Crazy flourless cookies

Indian curry

making indian curry at home? not as good as the restaurant right? this was decent, definately not real indian food, but a good supplement.
reciepe is from the cookbook 'first real kitchen cookbook'

Caramel apples yum

this took some work. we tried the martha everyday food recipe and the recipe from 'can it, bottle it, smoke it.'  we had problems with both of them. the martha one said it would take 8 minutes or something and the mixture did not behave as was described. so kept cooking it. eventually it started to follow the instructions from the book, then all of sudden it turned to powder and had no liquid. weird.

the one that finally worked was from the food network website:
then they were perfect! the only problem is that the caramel likes to ooze. i would recommend putting them in the refrigerator or something right away so the caramel stays put. we rolled some of them in chocolate covered sunflower seeds, it added a nice crunch.

Chocolate cookie

got this recipe from the whole foods website:

they were really good. easy to make, the worst part is rolling out the dough, but that is because i am lazy. but the shapes turned out really nicely.

mexican pizza

mexican pizza
trader joe's has a mexican pizza you can buy, and it was tasty, but i thought i "i can make that!" so i did. i used masa and made a thick tortilla. i then added refried black beans, salsa, chicken, cheese and cilantro with avocado on the side. yum!

biscuits and gravy

i love biscuits and gravy and it wasn't that hard to make. the biscuits are a martha recipe which i cut into squares (why have waste from circles?!) then i made a white gravy from my mom's recipe and used ground sausage as the meat base.

hazelnut cranberry bread

this was so good. the bread is mildly sweet, super tangy cranberries and roasted hazelnuts.

baked donuts

baked donuts (don't over fill your pans or there won't be a hole in the middle) this one was dipped in butter and rolled in cinnamon and sugar.

these donuts were dipped in a chocolate glaze. surprisingly easy.

pork ragu and polenta

the polenta was quick and easy. the ragu took a while to cook. it was supposed to cook in the slow cooker but i ran out of time and cooked it on the stovetop instead. it was good too, good flavor. just remember to cut off the fat.

presents for neighbors

last year some of our neighbors gave us xmas presents and i was too busy with baby to do anything. so this year i bought red and green pots and succulents to go in them. it was an inexpensive gift, didn't take much time to make and they don't need too much care to survive.

pancakes + lemon curd + blackberries

regular ol pancakes with lemon curd, (freezing lemon curd is genius! it defrosted perfectly.) with fresh blackberries.
